Hi, I’m Nina! 👋🏾 And spoiler alert - I’m a recovering Miss America. I say I’m in recovery because I was addicted to the trifecta: beauty, bingeing, and booze. But it all started with beauty. 10 years ago, I made history by becoming the first South Asian to win Miss America. And today, I speak out about how trying to achieve perfection nearly killed me. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

So what is this newsletter for? If you’re exhausted from constantly keeping up with beauty standards and worrying about “what will everyone else think?”, this is the place for you. In an effort to unravel my own relationship with beauty, perfection, and mental health, this is the place where I hope to get one layer deeper about my musings, current struggles, and biggest lessons learned growing up as a South Asian American. Each post will be different topics and themes - I might not have answers to everything, but what I can promise is honesty as I navigate this in real time!
